Located barely 200 yards from the crystal-clear water and stunning white sand of Virgin Gorda’s renowned Mahoe Bay, Adagio Villa is a stylish, elegant and high-quality home. It is surrounded by mature palms and flowering tropical plants, with a backdrop of lush, green hills, but is at the same time ideally placed to receive cooling sea breezes.
It sleeps a maximum of 10 people in five large bedrooms, all with air-conditioning and comfortable, king-size beds. Three of the bedrooms are in the triple-level main pavilion, with a further two bedrooms, connected by an internal door, in the single-level poolside pavilion. All have full en suite facilities with spacious outdoor glass-block showers – all with ocean views – and private verandahs, again with dramatic views of the ocean. Two of the bedrooms can be made up as twins if required.
Access to the main pavilion, together with the generous private pool and its large surrounding terrace, is by ramp, making the property ideal not only for children but also for guests with disabilities. This arrangement, with the pool and terrace situated between the two pavilions, additionally offers exceptional privacy for couples and families seeking to get away from it all. Inside, the centrepiece of the property is the Great Room, with its dramatically vaulted ceiling and large sliding glass doors leading out to the west-facing covered verandah, with panoramic views out over the palm-lined Mahoe Bay below and the ocean beyond. This area of the villa, with its own table and chairs, is ideal for alfresco dining, and also for watching the island’s exquisite sunsets. The Great Room ingeniously combines an informal living area with a formal dining area with a table and chairs to seat 10 guests, and is equipped throughout with comfortable, high-end designer furnishings. It also offers the convenience of an adjoining powder room. Other facilities include a well-equipped open-plan kitchen with a dishwasher, and just outside is a useful wet bar with refrigerator and ice-maker.
Virgin Gorda itself is so small that all of the island’s beaches are within easy driving distance. The famous Baths – huge granite boulders providing grottos and pools that you can walk through and explore, eventually coming to the idyllic Devil’s Bay – is just 15 minutes away by car. Mahoe Bay itself has a gently sloping beach, and so offers safe swimming for children, as well as easy snorkeling for the slightly more adventurous.
