Villa description
Villa Matija (pronounced ma-TEE-ya) sits above Brewer's Bay with an outstanding view of Jost Van Dyke and several other smaller cays and islands. On a clear day you can see Puerto Rico (about 70 miles away)! Enjoy the beauty and comfortable climate of the Caribbean with all the comforts of home at your fingertips. With just two bedrooms, Villa Matija is perfect for two couples or a small family. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bath and is air conditioned for your comfort. A beautifully appointed kitchen opens to an outdoor dining room, deck and plunge pool. In the evening relax and enjoy your favourite movies in the living room on a 58" plasma TV with Bose surround sound. Paradise has never been so good! Villa Matija takes advantage of the abundant sunshine in the BVI with a solar hot water system and photovoltaic (PV) panels installed to generate electricity from the sun. Although its not able to generate all electricity in this manner, the system provides consistent power as would a backup generator, but without the noise or pollution. A portion of the villa's electrical needs are met by the PV panels with the rest coming from the municipal power supply. And don't worry, the solar hot water is backed up by a traditional heater which provides an abundant supply of hot water whatever time of day you need it. Brewer's Bay beach, one of the most beautiful in the BVI, is just a short 3 mins' drive down the hill. Cane Garden Bay, another favourite BVI beach, is just 10 mins' drive away. Road Town, the capital of the BVI is also only 10 mins away, yet when you're at Villa Matija you feel like you're in another world. Enjoy the beaches, snorkeling or just lounge at the villa. |

Trudi's personal opinion If you're seeking a peaceful villa with amazing ocean views then look no further than Villa Matija. Located in the lush hills above Brewer's Bay, this affordable property is perfect for couples or a small family. The villa is only a few minutes' drive from one of my favourite beaches on Tortola at Brewer's Bay for excellent snorkeling, and not much further is Cane Garden Bay for restaurants, bars and stores. Villa Matija is ideally located north-central of Tortola so nowhere on island is too far to reach although the villa's inviting pool, comfortable furnishings and well-equipped kitchen mean you can spend a relaxing day at the property and don't have to venture too far if you feel like a lazy day at your 'home away from home'. Wherever you choose to spend your time, there's nothing better at the end of the day than to cool down in the pool with a cocktail in hand as you watch the sun set on another wonderful day in the islands. |

Reviews of Villa Matija This being our 3rd trip to Tortola, my wife and I were looking for a wonderful home that offered million dollar views and was up to our standards (yes, we are a bit spoiled with the nicer things). Boy did Villa Matija deliver. Too often folks go on vacation and are compelled to leave their lodging and explore and go go go. This home invites you to stay, exhale a bit and delight in the caress of the warm Tortola sunshine. Shame on you if don't spend as much time as you can truly immerse yourself in the home away from home. You can also appreciate the added benefit of knowing that this well-appointed villa is also environmentally-friendly by using solar panels for electricity and collected rainwater. The villa is in a wonderful location overlooking jaw-dropping Brewer's Bay and the islands of Jost Van Dyke in the distance. Beaches, restaurants, shopping and nightlife are merely minutes away yet you have the sense of extreme privacy and being surrounded by nature itself (the birds never stop singing and chirping - I don't they are allowed to on Tortola : ) If luxury in the middle of paradise is what you're looking for and you really want to treat your soul to a taste of heaven on earth, look no further than Villa Matija. The entire booking process was simply perfect. We were well-informed and aware at all times. Trudi is nothing short of superhero. In a world where customer service is unfortunately an afterthought, she went above and beyond to insure that my entire experience was smooth and pleasant. Bravo! Does "I want to live in this villa the rest of my life" count as a rating? Superb. Beautiful. Magnificent. Words fail to convey... A+ Great kitchen. Lovely bathrooms and bedrooms. Pool was beautiful. Top notch home. The owner, Tom, was absolutely the greatest. Very responsive and attentive. The housekeeper was perfect. Some snorkeling gear would be a nice treat to have in the home and a safe* would be great! Villa Matija exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I honestly can think of nothing that wasn't addressed, handled or explained that could have been more helpful. | All villa rental rates are quoted for 7 nights unless otherwise stated and are based on two persons per bedroom.
A minimum of 7 nights is required during high season and 5 nights during low season for the majority of villas. A 10-14 night minimum is required during Christmas/New Year depending on the villa. The weekly villa rental rates listed do not include 7% Government Tax. Information about specific villa rentals listed on this website is subject to change at any time. |
