Villa description
Hidden away in the lush, green hills on Tortola’s far north-western coast, but ideally positioned for guests to view sunsets, Scottland House is an attractive two-storey property surrounded by mature planting including banana, lime and coconut trees. The villa is located in a very peaceful area of the island, and is just a few minutes’ walk – or a short drive – from the nearest beach at idyllic Smuggler's Cove and its excellent swimming and snorkeling. Accommodation on the lower floor consists of a comfortable and welcoming living room furnished with a brightly coloured ‘L’-shaped sofa, and decorated with local prints and artifacts. Generous glazed doors on two sides of the living room let in plenty of light, and open fully – one to the patio and private pool and the unobstructed ocean views, which are simply magnificent. The villa’s substantial outdoor space provides a number of areas for relaxing poolside, topping up your tan, or reading, as well as alfresco dining on the heavy wooden circular table. The in-built BBQ is to the rear of the patio. Adjacent to the living room through a wide, open doorway is the villa's well-equipped country kitchen. A curved staircase leads up to the comfortably furnished and welcoming master bedroom suite, with its vaulted ceiling and romantic four-poster bed. This room has an en suite bathroom with a good-size natural stone shower and an appealing hand-painted washbasin. French doors open wide to a small balcony and views of the ocean and outlying islands of Jost van Dyke and Sandy Cay – among several others. To the rear of the master bedroom is a private tiled courtyard with café-style table and chairs, and a garden path leading to a pavilion-style gazebo and a gently swaying double hammock. The second bedroom, a somewhat smaller room with a queen-size bed and adjacent half-bath, is accessed by a short flight of steps from the rear of the kitchen. |

Trudi's personal opinion Scottland House is a picturesque villa boasting some of the best ocean views in the BVI. It's an absolute gem of a house that you might never know existed because it's tucked away at the end of an intriguingly long drive surrounded by trees and bushes – most exciting as you approach for the first time! The villa is comfortably furnished throughout, using a fusion of modern and traditional pieces, and decorated in bright, cheerful colours, matching the flame reds of the flowering trees within the grounds. My favourite part is the covered patio area with its amazingly comfortable deep-cushioned chaise lounges, a very peaceful area to relax or dine alfresco, or simply spend time with your loved one. Scottland House is one of the most romantic villas on Tortola, and I think has everything you would look for in a secluded, tranquil property. It's a perfect place to celebrate a honeymoon. |

Reviews of Scottland House Scottland house was the most beautiful place I've been to, absolutely a must for a honeymoon. Very private, very comfortable and an absolutely breathtaking view. The road going up to the house is quite rough, which I thought was great. I felt that it added greatly to the adventure and beauty of the place. It was like it gave an excitement to get to the house every time you drove on the road. Bananakeet's is a must to eat at, also The Clubhouse is a must try as well - great food, great service We would give Scottland House 12 out of ten, it was absolutely stunning, everything and more than we expected. Thanks to you and your hard work our honeymoon was an unforgettable adventure! Scottland House was AMAZING, far exceeding our expectations and hopes. | All villa rental rates are quoted for 7 nights unless otherwise stated and are based on two persons per bedroom.
A minimum of 7 nights is required during high season and 5 nights during low season for the majority of villas. A 10-14 night minimum is required during Christmas/New Year depending on the villa.
