Villa description
Located in its own 5.5-acre estate behind electronic security gates, Gun Point Villa offers luxurious accommodation for up to 12 guests in five spacious, light and airy bedrooms plus a smaller double bedroom. This stylish and serene villa is situated on the peninsula at Gun Point and enjoys spectacular ocean views overlooking the pristine beach at Smuggler's Cove and outlying islands of Jost van Dyke, Sandy Cay and Sandy Spit amongst others. Gun Point's private and exceptional location provides a profound sense of peace and solitude. Gun Point Villa’s accommodation is to be found in two separate pavilions: The Main House comprises of the Great Room with state-of-the-art Bose entertainment system, exceptionally well-equipped gourmet kitchen and two attractive bedroom suites. French doors open wide from both the Great Room and kitchen to the expansive terrace with covered alfresco dining area and comfortable sofas and chairs for rest and relaxation. Tiled steps lead down to the infinity pool bordered by a generous deck area with teak cushioned sun loungers. Private paths from the deck area lead down to Gun Point's own jetty for swimming and excellent snorkeling, a second path meanders to the top of Gun Point peninsular with magnificent panoramic views and a third path, to the east, entices you down to the gin-clear turquoise waters and white sands at Smuggler's Cove. To the west of the Main House, the exquisite master bedroom, 'Union', has direct access to the main terrace and also enjoys a very private verandah with spectacular ocean views. The second en suite bedroom in this pavilion, 'Jack', offers a king or twin beds (your choice) and also has direct access to the main terrace through the French doors. Both of these bedrooms have wonderful walk-in showers in their en suite bathrooms. From the Main House, a natural stone walkway leads to the Guest House with three further bedrooms. Two of these bedrooms are located on the upper level: 'Fish' provides a king suite and 'Chips' has either a king bed or 2 twins (again, your choice). Adjacent to ‘Chips’ is 'Salt' a separate double bedroom. ‘Chips’ and ‘Salt’ share a bathroom with walk-in shower. Both of these suites enjoy a private terrace with comfortable furniture and superb ocean views of Smuggler's Cove. The third bedroom/study room in the Guest House, with double bed, half bath and outdoor shower, is located on the lower level accessed by steps to the side of the building. A PC, ethernet connection for your laptop, printer and answer machine is available for guests’ use in the study. The very top of Gun Point was long ago used as a cannon emplacement firing out to sea at pirate ships venturing too near the coastline. The original house was built in 1969 around Gun Point's original 18th-century gunpowder store. As there were no roads back then, all building materials had to be brought in by sea to the jetty and then trotted to the site by a donkey named Liz. Today, the estate remains in the same family and was completely renovated in 2005 to a very high standard of updated luxury, reviving the magic enjoyed at Gun Point decades ago. |

Trudi's personal opinion There's a sense of excitement driving along the tree-lined road to this hidden luxurious property on Tortola’s northwest coast. Gun Point is magical, offering state-of-the-art amenities within a tranquil, private villa where you will instantly relax as soon as you arrive. Sumptuous furnishings throughout will entice you never to venture too far away, although it would be a crime not to explore what the British Virgin Islands have to offer. The ocean views are truly breathtaking and the property is ideally situated to view spectacular sunsets at cocktail hour. With an attentive staff to cater to your every desire you are assured of a vacation of a lifetime and will, no doubt, want to return again and again. There's nothing to not like about this fantastic villa, it ticks every box and more. One of my favourite villas in the BVI, which really does have the wow! factor. |
