Villa description
Named after the famous 16th century buccaneer, Sir Francis Drake, Drake's Splendor sits within a two-acre private gated estate. The villa is approached by a driveway that passes through a beautiful landscaped garden, complete with an orchard of tropical fruit trees. The house, itself, is surrounded by bougainvillea in a myriad of colours. Perched above the ocean below, this lovely two-bedroom contemporary Caribbean writer's retreat is secluded, yet just a short drive from the beaches, shops and nightlife of the island.

Step inside and feel instantly at home. One room flows naturally into the next creating an open and airy space. The two air-conditioned bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house providing complete privacy. Each room has a king bed and en-suite bathroom. The west bedroom, Bougainvillea Suite, features a balcony overlooking the pool, a favourite place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. On the eastern end of the villa is the spacious master suite. The large en-suite bathroom has double wash basins and a large shower. A lovely feature is the claw foot tub with a sea view! Off the bedroom is a deck with loungers where you can catch the sun away from everyone else. At night, you find it is perfectly positioned for star gazing.

The living rooms of the villa are between the two bedrooms. The air conditioned library can also be used as an office as it is equipped with a desk, copier, fax machine, wi-fi connection and cell phone (free local calls and a separate line with unlimited free calls to the US & Canada is included in the rental rates). The gourmet kitchen has recently been upgraded with custom built solid mahogany fittings and new stainless steel appliances. Opposite the kitchen is a graceful dining room that opens onto an outside dining deck suspended above the ocean. The sunken living room is accessed through Palladian arches framing a wide set of coral steps. The British Plantation furnishings and comfortable sofas and chairs provide a restful place for lounging.

Outside, steps lead down to the private swimming pool surrounded by a tiled deck. On the western end is a gazebo with thickly cushioned loungers - a favourite spot for watching the sunset. A covered balcony bordering the living room offers a 260-degree view of the Sir Francis Drake Channel and seven islands, offering an ever changing spectacle – enjoy the sailboats, the diving pelicans, the soaring frigate birds and even, in the winter months, migrating whales.
