Invariably one of the main reasons for going on vacation to the BVI with a group of your extended family or friends is to spend time with them, and Virgin Gorda’s Christa Villa, designed around a large and impressive Great Room, is just perfect for that. Recently refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, the house offers top-quality accommodation for up to 10 guests, in five generous and beautifully furnished bedroom suites. It has the added benefit of being set on just one level, with both a wheelchair ramp to the entrance, and wide internal doorways, making it an ideal location for elderly and/or disabled guests, too. Another popular reason for coming to the BVI is surely to enjoy the spectacular ocean views and Villa Christa excels at that, too. Set on a hilltop, if offers some truly incredible 270-degree sweeping views of the electrifying blues of the North Sound and the outlying islands of the BVI.

You enter the building through a wide hallway leading in to the Great Room. This large, open-plan living area, with its high, vaulted ceiling in beautiful dark timber, was designed from the outset to allow families and friends to enjoy each other's company while preparing meals in the professional kitchen, dining on the glass table, or simply chatting and relaxing. The kitchen has every modern amenity an enthusiastic cook could wish for, and is sectioned off from the living area – but crucially not separated from it – by the breakfast bar and stools. A convenient wet bar with an ice-maker and additional fridge sits adjacent to the kitchen. Expansive wooden sliding doors open to no fewer than three sides of the Great Room, leading out to the covered wraparound verandah on two sides, furnished with high-quality chaise lounges for reading, napping and relaxing, and also a large table set for alfresco meals. Cooling tradewinds help keep the villa comfortable. On the Great Room's third side is the pool surrounded by the sunny tiled deck, again affording incredible ocean views from all outdoor areas.

All five of the sumptuously furnished and decorated bedroom/bath suites lead off from the hallway, but at the same time are spaced sufficiently far apart to provide privacy for all. Like the remainder of the house, the bathrooms have been refurbished recently, and feature wood vanities and indoor/outdoor shower enclosures in natural stone. Sliding doors from three of the bedrooms lead out to private verandahs and those stunning ocean views beyond.

Set in tropical flowering gardens, Christa Villa is a private, elegant property, yet is conveniently located within a walk or very short drive (about two minutes) to the restaurants, bar and marina at Leverick Bay Resort, just down the hill.
